Mount Irau, Pahang |

The tea plantations, flower orchid & the
abundant of fresh fruits are some of the
highlights of Cameron Highland. For most
who have been to this place, you might
have heard about Mt Brinchang which is
quite a famous place amongst visitor.
Unknown to most people, there is a track
from Mt Brinchang which leads to the
peak of Mt Irau and for me, this is
quite a unique track which offers an
interesting climb to the peak.
The moment we started the tracking, I
knew that our journey is going to be
different from the rest. The track is
soft because at this height, the track
is made of composed dead leaves & peat
soil. The track is not as steep compared
to other mountains, but the challenge is
still exceptional. Personally, I felt
like the mountain was teasing us. It
does not really challenge your physical
strength, but it tries to break you,
mentally. That's because there are
numerous of ups and downs which makes
you wonder whether there is the peak or
not. Although you can see Irau's peak
from Mt Brinchang (which definitely
looks quite near), it took us about 4
hours to get to the peak or Irau from Mt
Brinchang.
Along the way, the scenery was like
being in a time capsule where you are
surrounded with trees and plants which
have been there thousands of years ago.
It's Jurassic Park at it's best ! (minus
the man-eating lizards of course). We
were feeling completely taken by the
breathtaking surrounding. One thing you
must notice, we will criss-crossing two
states (Pahang & Perak) all the time.
This was visible because they are marked
by 'border stones' left there a long
time ago. The cool and misty surrounding
was very refreshing.
At the top, we could see part of the
magnificent Titiwangsa range. On a clear
day, you will be able to see some of
Malaysia's' highest peaks. Irau is
definitely one mountain worth
climbing...and I hope there is more out
there...... | |
