Kiteboarding is a widely used term encompassing various different Kiting sports.
All of which derive from the use of a kite for power. The rider uses the kite to
make tack movements similar to sailing; to go up and down wind. Kite
Surfing. Kite Boarding may refer to:

Kite Boarding - similar to wakeboarding, with the aid of a kite instead of a
boat; usually on flat water. Sometimes called kitesurfing This would be surfing
with any size surfboard depending on wind conditions; using a kite to aid.

Kite Surfing - using a surfboard or bidirectional board in the waves or in the
surf, with a kite.

Kite Sandboarding - using a snowboard on the sand with the aid of a kite for
power, very similar to Kite Landboarding

Kite Skating - this is done using inline skates preferably on paved terrain;
usually with a 2-5m kite respectively.

Kite Skateboarding - very similar to Kite Landboarding, except riding on paved
terrain, and with a skateboard without foot bindings. Smaller kite sport; 2-5m
kite respectively

Snowkiting - Going uphill in mountainous terrain is possible if that is the
direction the wind is going. So, snowboard down a mountain, and snowkite back
up!

FYI - A riding harness is used to transfer the power from the kite to the rider.
IMPORTANT: The appropriate size kite depends on wind speed. An experienced rider
will have a quiver of kites ranging from 5meters to 24meters respectively |
